Tips For Replacing A Toilet
Replacing the toilet is going to be done by the removal of your old toilet in the first place. So start by turning off the supply of water to your old toilet. You do not want water overflowing from the open outlets, when the old toilet is removed from its base, do you. Unscrew the bolts holding the toilet bowl to its support. Lift the old toilet bowl off its base. Clean the area before replacing a toilet bowl, so that you do not have any grunge disfiguring the area when you install the new toilet bowl. If there is any sort of damage on the floor, you need to repair it before you replace the bowl. You would also need to inspect the flange on the floor, or any sort of damage before the bowl is anchored firmly into place.

The toilet bowl ring is made out of wax. Inspect it carefully, and place it on the flange to see if it fits properly. Do not press it, because you need to press it onto the bowl rim. This is done after you turn the toilet bowl upside down. Many of these rings have collars so make sure that if your ring has any sort of collar, it should be placed facing away from the toilet bowl.
Now seal the toilet bowl base with the help of a caulk before you settle it into place. Turn the toilet bowl right side up, and place it carefully on top of the flange. After that, you need to attach it firmly on the floor, with the help of bolts. You may need the help of somebody else, to hold the bolts or the bowl, while you are placing it in its assigned place. After you have pressed it down firmly into place, try rocking it to see if it is firm or if it is wobbly. Tighten up the bolts and secure it, after you are assured that it is not going to move from its place.
You may want to use the wooden shims to level, and straighten the toilet bowl. Trim the shims so that they are not visible outside the toilet bowl’s external design parameters. Fasten the bolts with the help of the nuts; it is advisable to tighten the nuts with your hands instead of with a wrench, because a too tight nut may crack the delicate toilet bowl. Just make sure that there is no leeway for movement, once the bolts and nuts are attached to the floor and to the bowl. After replacing a toilet, it should be firmly attached and not move around at all.
The Last Steps of Replacing a Toilet
Replacing a toilet water supply tube which normally is going to come out from the wall, or from the floor needs to be done by tightening the connecting nut at the end of the tube to either the tank, if the model comes in one piece, or to the toilet bowl, if it is a two-piece model. The tank is going to have a part which is protruding from its bottom portion. You have to attach the tank bolts to this portion, in such a manner that the bolts are facing downwards. So start by placing washers on that protruding portion. Then insert the bolts into the toilet tank. After you have placed the tank carefully in its proper place on the bowl, guide the bolts into their respective holes and tighten them. Make sure that the tank is steady and positioned on a straight level. Attach the flexible water supply tube properly and connect the chain and the handle of the time, so that the flush system begins to work properly. Now switch on the water supply again and test the flush system. A little bit of caulking prevents any sort of leakage in the long run. So now that you know all about replacing a toilet, replace it with the help of the given tips and techniques.
